My LFS had to recently frag one of their Rainbow Trachy due to it not doing well, they fragged the unaffected part of the coral. I have experience with Trachy’s and currently have one so I decided to see if could get this one to recover as I hear they are notoriously hard, the LFS gave it to me really cheap for obvious reasons.
I’ve had it for about a week now, noticed it is getting puffy and appears to be doing okay, still has its skeleton showing from where it was fragged, only time will tell how it does though!
Currently keeping it on the bottom of my sand bed in the shadier part, guessing around 100-150 par, although I don’t have a par meter.
I will post updates here as it (hopefully) recovers.
Thank you for your time!

following along, looks promising!

Good luck w the trachy. What’s the frag side look like? Is the mouth area from the center present? Also is that some exposed skeleton on the right side? Would an iodine dip help? Sry curious, not a pro.

The frag side primarily has a lot of skeleton showing, you could tell from the back. I’m not sure if they used a band saw to frag because the cut on the skeleton doesn’t look to clean, I hear that’s the best way to get success.
There was no mouth in the center but if it is is anything related to fungia plate frags, it should form a mouth over the next month. I’m not sure if more dipping is the right way to go, but I did dip it in Vibrant
