Good Day all,
I would like some advice on fragging this coral. It is 12" in dimeter and just too large for my 120 gallon tank. It is attached to a rock with other Leathers and I just want to reduce the overall size.
Thanks in advance.

Get yourself a sharp pair of scissors and cut triangle shapes out of it. you can get get some rubble rock and attach it with a rubber band so that it can grab a hold of the rubble.

These trim and cut and heal rather easily. When fragging leather corals , there is a presence of chemical toxins produced by the coral, so its best done outside of the tank. When fragging leathers they quickly start producing slime which is best kept out of your main system. Instead cut and dip your corals in an Iodine solution, followed by seawater and let fresh-cut frags settle before heading back to the main reef.
Run chemipure blue or elite which will reduce/absorb toxins. You can take some scissors and cut triangles out of the cap. Then place them in a plastic dish with rubble in it inside the tank with a screen mesh covering the top secure it with a rubberband.

Thank you for your reply!

Indeed.
If you are cutting it in the tank,, run some carbon afterwards as leathers can release toxins in the tank.
I will remove first it but be sure to run Chemipure or Purigen. Thanks again for the advice. One follow up question: Should I leave the "parent" in a bucket with some iodide (SeaChem) for a while?
