I've never fragged one before and want to get one from someone but they don't know how to frag it either.

Any tricks, do's, or don'ts?

They're tough to frag - if it's grown in a pretty random pattern which most are you'll have to accept maybe losing a polyp or 2. I just use a dremel with diamond wheel and cut the skeleton along the straightest line I can find. Once I get a nice groove I use a screwdriver to break thru the rest to avoid the heat from the dremel.

A reefband saw works wonders. I advice it for any one who wants to sell frags it makes you life so easy, and saves you money in the long run.

I agree with m and m fragging stuff like that you really need a wet band saw even if its one those wet saws from like harbor frieght. The only difference is that with the saws from harbor frieght you are forced to cut a straight line with the diamond band you can cut around polyps or eyes if you doing chalices.

Which also saves your polyps and money/trade, thats why i said it pays for itself. You can buy one for roughly 210 shipped.

uhm, which type of Blasto are we talking about? Welsso's are pretty easy to frag using a diamond band saw, without I'd really rather not try it! If you have a LFS in the area, see if they have a band saw that you could rent for $5 or something. Depending on the growth, you can try the chissel approach between the columns, but you run a risk of cracking polyps in half which will usually cause the polyp to die.

Merletti's I've never fragged, so I'd rather not try and offer advice on them, but I would guess it's along the same lines-really, try and find a band saw, just so much easier. And yea, using a wood bladed band saw will be cheaper, and you can find really affordable ones, but getting a diamond one is well worth it-maybe see if you can get a couple reefers to chip in on it so you and some local buddies all have one to use when you need.
