Fragging chalice

Yes, that is I...

hahahah

Never use FW for cutting corals.

Whoever suggested running FW for coral, never fragged a coral before(inland)

You gotta remember, inland is basically a glass tooling company.

Ok, so of the 12 chalice frags I cut, four of them lost their flesh over the next couple days. I'm going to keep the skeletons as I've had this happen in the past on frags I bought and they came back.

My question is this, are there things you should do with the frags after you cut them? What is the best way to handle them? I dip them in Restor after I cut them for 5 minutes.

I'm using the DFS-100 bandsaw and it says to use RODI water to make the cuts. Should I use saltwater?

RO/DI water will kills frags. Water parameters are way different. You should always use tank water when cutting frags.

this is a great tread guys. love hearing opinions and experienced answers on this. keep it coming.

Well now we know:) At least 2 of the 4 survived Mike. Looks like we have to even out the rim now..

I use saltwater as well and then when I'm done fragging, I put in hot freshwater and let it run to clean out the saw.

Chalices are slime monsters, so I typically have 2-3 containters of saltwater sitting ready for rinsing them. #1 container is where they go right after the cut and I swish it around to get off the slime. The #2 container is where I have some tropic marin coral cure and then I let it sit in there for 5 minutes and then I swish it again to get more slime off and then they go into the 3rd container and that is where they sit until I get the frag plug ready with glue and attach them down. Then one last swish in there and then the go into the tank with some flow across them to keep them from from sliming themselves over.
