Fragging promoting new advanced growth?

Are there any articles or thread about fragging SPS colonies promoting advanced growth spurts?
I ask because someone asked me, and it did occur to me that when I break by accident or frag some of my SPS they seem to grow faster.

Anyone else experience this? I am sure someone knows a good read.

There is a lot of anecdotal evidence and i might try it tonite on my reef. Im not sure if we just cut the tips or a larger portion.

I've seen it on... Gasp!!! A nub of an Oregon Tort frag I had for about 6 mos! It's notoriously slow at growing. I cut a piece that was stung by a chalice and in about a months time it's grown more than it did as a double nub.

I think it helps to promote growth for sure

I knocked off a piece of my Cali tort fragging my Joe. I swear I break something everytime.
PS love the Oregon have a couple inch frag myself.

I will cut even small frags that have encrusted allot to get new growth. In my opinion, they are like bushes, they love to be trimmed on occasion!

If you are referring to the one on my profile picture, that is a tarpon! They are a ride on a flyrod! If an acro has encrusted to twice the size of the frag plug, and has not shot up upward growth, I will cut the original frag piece off. More times than not, it will jump start upward growth.

I was unsure about the pic. Being in Texas you have some strippers(was thinking way to big to be a large mouth ).
I got a nice small Tarpon couple weeks back. Started a thread call beautiful fish or something like that

I know both of you gents have done a lot of fragging on a variety of Acros and other SPS. Care to offer any insight as to your experience with colony growth after cutting frags? I'm extremely curious about this lol
