Fragging through torch flesh

While I usually face problems with receding flesh, one of my torches has extremely healthy flesh down the skeleton. Problem is it’s getting way too big and stinging stuff, so I’m wondering if people have had good experiences fragging through the flesh. I could probably get 1-2 inches of remaining flesh before the rim per frag. See below.

I know Sustainable Reefs are cutting heads to 6 or 8 pieces and are successful in doing so.

imo if you’re using a band saw or Dremel and do it quick enough + dip in Iodine afterwards, you’ll be fine.

Use the diamond cutting disc.
It’s narrower than the regular one and cuts everything like butter.

When you start with bjd you already have some bacterial infection in place, so chances are lower in the first place.

When cutting a healthy head and using iodine to immediately dip and disinfect it, chances of survival are significantly higher.

Interesting, I know some reefers that accidentally broke heads into 2 halves and both survived.

Personally I didn’t cut through a torch head yet, but I do have a wall gold torch coming that needs to be taken apart sooner or later, and with my prior experience with cutting through the flash of other corals I’m quite confident in doing so.

Will try to remember and update when I do.

Funny because it’s a survivable issue to frag through a wall hammer, in fact no other way, but through the stem of a torch through the flesh far away from the polyp is risky.
