fragging wwc bio bounce

I'm looking to frag my bounce that overgrownovergrew it's 2" plug. some people have mentioned rubber band method. how is that ? tips ?

Yikes! I'd be nervous as all get out fraging a mushroom that valuable.

I have a buddy that puts them in a blender and squirts the result over a bunch of frag plugs....'course those are give away regular 'shrooms.

You affix rubber bands across the mushroom dissecting the mouth, if you want 4 slices you cross two rubber bands, if you want 8 then you use 4

I'm guessing the really small rubber bands ? that will make it extra tight ?

so right across both sides if I want 4 frags ? will they be lose in the tank afterwards?

use a blade better. Sometimes the rubber band sttresses the coral and it dies off

I'll chime in and say that all said and done that's still a mushroom in the genus Rhodactis, meaning they are technically the same to propagate as any other mushroom. Personally I just cut mushrooms in half, or you can sever the top from the bottom and let the bottom regrow and the top settle onto rubble. There's many ways to divide them or make babies from them. I used to just cut a piece of the foot off of them and it would grow into a polyp. Don't think I've tried that with rhodactis, but they will still bud off meaning it would likely work here too. Up to you which you go with.

+1 when I do something go for a cheapo to learn on... you'll feel less guilty if something happens or you lose the peice. Not trying to be negitive. Good luck tho post pictures

Cool, with a razor blade? Just cutting mushrooms usually works, unless it's R. yuma then they're a bit more sensitive. I take it they healed nicely?
