Hey

i got a Goniopora coral and now a small Green frogspawn, which is fragged, do i keep it on the frag and itll grow over onto the rock? or what? i want to get some more bigger ones to stack all over my rocks/cave system ive built so its all coral and cant see any rock, how would i go about doing this? coral cement? or just stack? i got my mushrooms on top, Goniopora on the sand in the middle and my frogspawn on the beginning of the rock that i want to cover

Also, may be a stupid question, but is it possibe for clownfish to host a coral? i saw somewhere online some guy had his clownfish hosting a goniopora? is there any truth or possibility behind this?

cheers :rolleyes::cool:

I always just cut away parts of the frag plug so there's the smallest space possible, glue the coral to that, and glue the frag plug to a hole in the rock that I want to use. It will eventually grow over the frag plug, and it looks less noticeable with it being cut smaller. It is always better to glue them and not move them around, they will grow quicker and be less irritated.

( I use GEL superglue from lowes)

My clownfish hosts all of my corals. He rubs in the frogspawn the most. They sometimes take time to do this, and mine tend to do this off and on.

Yup clowns will try to host anything with tentacles. Lol I've seen hairy mushrooms, euphillia, goni, duncan etc..
And you can do the frags however you like. I do some plugs. I cut some. I remove the plugs all together. And I use super glue gel. It will hold long enough for growth to take over. But if you change your mind before it attachs, it is super easy to pop off and redo. :-)
And I know all about stacking! Lol

That's awesome, my clowns are small ATM though, I'm not sure if they have to mature to host? They're about medium size, my female is beginning to be more dominant towards my male

I'm sure as soon as they notice they can host them, they will. Once one catches on its inevitable that the other one will.

Yeah hope so, I think it's awesome, I forgot to ask you but any technique on how to cut away the frag?

I wanna get a few bigger longer corals to stack on my roxks big enough for my clownfish so maybe they'll host, right now they host my magnet cleaners lol or my filter lol, my fav fish!!

And sadly I've lost my peppermint shrimp the other day! But I think I'll try and get a boxer shrimp

I started with one clown. It loved to try to host my center hammer/spawn. When i got the second, within a week they were in the rbta and the hairy mushroom in front of it.

You mean the frag plug, right? A lot of the times I get a really sharp pair of scissors and just trim the plug in four clean cuts around where the coral is. I can't stand the really obvious white circle around the corals. I also trim down the little peg on the frag plug, and I make it shorter. Just one clean cut usually, so it's easier to glue into small spaces in the rocks. I use a lot of glue and hold it for a few seconds.

I lost my peppermint shrimp in a move, cleaner shrimps have a lot more personality. I used to work at my lfs and my favorite part was cleaning their little box tank, they would all crawl over my hands.

My peppermint would climb alm over mine too, heck sometimes he would be a little rascal and come out and eat all the fish food! So he got fed first then the fish!

Love the caves. The right side formation keeps grabbon my eye. Cool:)

took me a month to fix those rocks lol, seriously, i finally have it how i like it on the right end, left ehhh could be better!

Liked your FB page too! your tank is absolutely stunning!!!!!!!

Fish and coral have evolved over time. Current fish list is
Pair of occelaris
Pair of watchman gobies
Pair of blue mandarins
Yellow tang
Flame angel
Bangai cardinal
Springeri dottyback
Six lined wrasse
Lyre tail anthia
I think that's it. Lol way too many. But my fuge keeps my water clean as can be.
\\how many fish you got? i see clowns chromish and firefish?.. ive got 4 fish in my 29g, i may get another i just dont know what! i wanna upgrade in the future to a wide 40g tank and make like a tunnel shape out of the rock so when viewed it goes around and open in the middle! (Sorry id need to draw a blueprint to properly show you LOL)
