I was talking orchids with Jake today and came home to discover my Phrag. 'Jason Fischer' had bloomed! I was pretty excited because these aren't easy to get to bloom. Here's the proof:

Nice! We saw some wild-looking vandas in Hawaii but didn't bring them back. As wonderful as orchids are my real passion in the plant kingdom are the African succulents. Here's a Madagascar Pachypodium eburneum I have which only grows in a small locale. This guy is probably at least 50 years old:

I used to have one of those beautiful slippers. I had a bunch for a long time and then kids came along and they slowly dwindled to the few phals I have left.

First time this has bloomed for me so I hope it lasts. They are incredible. I have a lot of phals we acquired over the years and they grow incredibly well here in TN. When I lived in NY I never had much success so you must be doing something right!
