Welcome, I’m also new here.Hey there, I've had salt water tanks for about 5 months now. Started with a 60, that leaked, then switched to a 55, and just upgraded about 4 weeks ago to a 110 gallon. I have about 29 frags. On this journey I have lost about 3 frags. Would love for anyone to share ideas for reef tanks in general. I love it!
I do need to add more rock to my tank. Trying to decide between live and dry rock, when I already have about 45 lbs. Of live in there. I have about 4 or 5 aptasia that have all come on frags and my live rock I've bought. So little weary of buying the live rock. Also cause I don't have the time to cure stuff when I have a 2 and 3 year old at home. Anyway, just introducing myself, so Hi!

Welcome! Glad you joined - this is a great hobby for family, though at that age make sure they can't reach sump or anywhere they can drop items into your tank's water. About 10+ years ago one of my nieces decided to 'punish' a fish after hearing her parents talk about fish - she dropped in enough salt to wipeout tank (didn't help that it took a while for my sister to figure out what had happened, which also contributed to the severe result).Hey there, I've had salt water tanks for about 5 months now. Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. Like you, I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

Yes, I had true peppermints eat my hammers... BF wouldn't believe it and wasn't until one of the peppermints was well into muching 4th and caught in act that believed. At that point we removed them so two hammers survived (but can't say 'hammer garden' with only two). Don't know if all three peppermint shrimp were doing it (suspect not), but at least one peppermint was being very very very naughty

tank looks great. if u want a full looking tank u should get more rock and build up a bit. i had a scape kinda like urs but my fish died due to stress and no areas to hide. So i built up and now my fish are doing great.

I have heard they can nip at corals, however I have never had any issues.

It's so much easier going with a larger setup. More options for fish, more room for corals and territory. Just, harder to keep the glass clean!

Dry rock is a lot cheaper and you won't have to deal with bad hitchhikers.
Cured live rock will cycle your tank faster at a higher cost.
If your current rock is cycled, just add new dry in intervals it will add to your biological filtration in short order.
