A manufactured one looks much better than what you can achieve with PVC imo. King of diy has a decent design of you want to go that route.

The produced ones will also take up a lot less space inside the tank.

Not the best pic , but you can see the HOB overflow , it’s a cpr 102 with two pumps and I use a tom aqua lifter to maintain siphon. It didn’t ever need the Tom, but sucking on saltwater was disgusting to start the siphon lol

Yeah fresh, that hob looks great, a lot better than the DIY stuff i was looking at. Thats
one thing I was worried about, was losing a siphon I'll look into that aqua lifter.

Another step close to getting this sump going.

I might paint the front where the skimmer and return would be. One to hide my horrible silicone job lol and two I think it will draw more attention to the fuge part. Thoughts on that would be cool.

Thanks @PeterC99!! I do, it's my son's 10 gallon tank. He's only seven so I take care of it he feeds his clown lol.

It's just coming out of the uglies. I made the rock myself and used crushed coral, play sand, and Portland cement. Was a fun process. We're hoping to make it an epic anemone tank.

After about 7-8 months of a salty hiatus I’m back at it again. My last 40g tank went south when I caught covid in August. Was heartbroken at the losses I left the hobby and kept a fresh tank.
I gave all my freshwater fish to a friend and started my 40g saltwater journey again. Had some rock lying around. My son and I smashed it all up and went an nsa approach…

Will be moving in a couple weeks. So any pointers will be greatly appreciated. I’m going to get some large plastic tubs to keep my rocks in during transport. I’ll also leave some water in the tank to keep the sand wet.
