I know this has been asked before, I just can't seem to find it anywhere.

I go fishing/diving off the California coast often, can I use anything out there as food for my tank?
Im thinking specifically Rock Cod, Cabazon, Perch, Muscles, Scallops. Maybe even seaweed?

Will any of these be too fatty, or greasy to add? Would them being close to the coast, near a bay introduce too high of metals or filth?.

And anything else to add?

I will tell you this, I use fresh seafood(usually shrimp, scallops, clam, etc) and make my own coral and fish foods. Its pretty simple, sushi paper, garlic, seafood, and some tank water in a blender until its a smoothie. Then it goes into an ice cube tray and gets frozen. My fish and corals love it, along with snails and crabs too. I would think that at least the mussles and scallops would be find along with the seaweed too. As far as the fish I'm not entirely sure but I really dont see why not.

Has anyone noticed fish in the bay or close to the coast having higher toxic levels from waste and such? I wonder if it would effect the tank.n
