Freakin pile of rocks...help!

Need your guys help.

No matter what I do to this left side I can't get rid of the "pile of rocks" look. I'm not very creative to begin with and this is driving me insane.

Here are a couple pics, need some suggestions PLEASE!

Take your small rocks out put them in a pile then take your bigger rock separate in different pile then take two smaller one stack in back corne area then take a couple othe small one in middle left rear of tank take another one and place in front of that in front of the tank then take another small rock and place near the font one or two and stack them together left of the other front rock about four inches apart then take your biggest rock and bridge the rocks towards the middle of the tank then take that long rock on the left bottom side of your structure now and bridge the left side rocks and beauty will come.......... Hurrry now not much time get to work lol!

Try not to create anything man-made looking. With the rock you have, I could imagine some of it being bonded together with a two-part putty, some PVC and some zip ties. That helps maintain the shape was the putty hardens and supports the rock longterm.

Stacking rock is nice as you have options, but there is always the risk of it falling apart. Usually once my rock is in place, I never touch it again unless something major requires it.

Personally I would select 3-5 rocks that have the most unique shape and places for corals. Then ditch the rest and go from there. Less is more. You need to think how you want your tank to look 2 years from now when all those kick butt corals are grown in. Think flow and swimming passageways. Smaller rocks on bottom bigger up top.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Got some fresh water ready for when I'm done and almost everything's up on a frag rack or down in the frag section of the sump. I'd say I'll report back shortly, but it'll be a little while.

what i did in my biocube is make a u-shape. the bottom part of the u i made like a bridge basically connecting the right and left side. the right side is more like a shelve and the left more like a pile. when you make the piles try to angle them starting low towards the center of the tank and work up to the glass.

Ive always said if you try to arrange your rock in a particular way it will look man made lol I put all my rocks in a bucket and pick them out in no particular order and just put them in then it looks natural. I did mine when it was cloudy from a break down and I couldnt see in it at all a few pieces look strange but thats how it is in the wild I always ask my self "man I wonder how that happend or how that got there"

Tell your corals to grow faster to cover your rock : ) Then it will look more natural. I always think tank's look more natural with time. That tank is pretty new and you don't have coraline all over your rock yet, can't build a reef in a day!

you might try to sketch out some layout shapes and study some different aquascapes so you have a little direction before you tear your tank apart
