A couple nights ago after lights out I noticed a large amount of small white worms swimming in the water column of my reef. I’ve never seen or heard of something like this before and would like to know what the heck was going on. This has never happened before and hasn’t happened any night after.
The attached video isn’t very good but it’s the best I could get. The worms were around 0.4mm long.

With the video so far from the subject I'm spitballing here but the swimming made me think nematodes, most of which in marine environments eat microalgae and detritus. Could also be mysis or Ichthyoplankton (baby fish). If you can go get a cheap magnifying glass and see what features you can make out. If it really is a white worm its a nematode in which case make sure you don't have detritus hiding somewhere.

I’ll try catch one and have a look :)
