So I am toying the the idea of putting marine pure balls in my reefs sump so I have a constant supply of good bacteria for qt tanks. I'm currently using cheap ceramic rings and throwing then away. This adds up when you are qting alot.

My thought was could I use mp balls and when they come out of the qt, the get a fresh water bath. Then into the freezer to sterilize. After a week in the freezer they can go back into the sump.

Will freezing kill uronema, ich, velvet, or flukes?

I use bleach, rinse, rinse, rinse and then completely dry to remove bio-film; then vinegar, rinse, rinse, rinse and then completely dry to precipitate copper into a harmless form; and then if the equipment, marine pure, tank, etc. has had a particularly nasty disease in it, I use hydrogen peroixide, rinse, rinse, rinse and then completely dry. H2O2 completely destroys carbon based materials. It's one of the methods used in labs to sterilize.

ive been throwing around the idea of marine pure bio balls too since i have probably a dozen laying around but they are so dang porus id be afraid they would never dry....maybe you could just chuck em in the microwave to sterilize em lol

Maybe bake them at 350 in the oven?

Uronema is tough I believe.
