I'm getting ready to drill a hole to pull outside air in for a couple skimmers in my basement. The idea is to run pvc through the wall and then soft tube through a brs reactor with carbon and polyfil then t off the outlet to run to the different skimmers. Would a 1" pvc inlet be able to pull enough air in for both skimmers, Nyos 160 and Curve 9? I figure there wouldn't be much point in going larger since it will be restricted running through the reactor anyway. But I'm looking for any input before I start drilling holes in the house.

Yes. I would suggest instead of the carbon and ployfil, just run the sodalime and the air will be filtered. Then you would have the best of both with fresh air and a Co2 scrubber

I am only running a 1/2 air draw for my outside line. I would keep carbon inline and if you want to add sodalime that will not be an issue. The main reason for the carbon is to prevent outside pollutants from entering your tank through the air line. I know that if neighbors are spraying weed killer or pesticides and I can smell them in the air then there is a chance they could make it to my aquarium if the air is not pre-filtered and run through carbon filters before entering my skimmer.

Thanks for the replies. I've got an extra dual reactor and I thought about hooking it up to run soda lime in the 2nd canister as well but I'd like to see how much the ph increases without it and avoid the extra cost of refilling it if I can. Plus there's the other issue of keeping the air pulling through soda lime humid in order to extend the media life and I'd have to figure something out for that.
