Fresh Air Line fixed Low PH

My house is brand new with spray insulation and my PH would stay between 7.8 and 7.9 So after doing a lot of reading I deiced to run a line from my skimmer out the window. Day 1 PH low 7.87 high 7.96 day 2 the same day 3 low 7.90 to high 7.97 day 4 the same day 5 low 7.95 to 8.00 today low 7.90 to 8.10

So if you where wondering if it works so far it does.

Also try to re-calibrate your probe. I was running low for a while - re calibrated and am now in the 8.25 - 8.35 consistently.

Eric, do you run the line through any kind of carbon filter? Any pesticide or other environmental concerns?

I did re-calibrate and my probe was dead on. It is my house and the CO2 that it keeps in because it so insulated.

I ran it out the window and then got some metal tape that they use with AC and opened the window just enough to get the line out and then ran the tape to seal it. Cant tell the window open and no air can get in.

It is one of the easier methods to raise low pH.

So what about the pesticide issue and other polutants? Do you have a concern there?

I ran mine under our house into the crawlspace. it goes inside and then thru a pill bottle with cotton in it that was a sliencer. this made a huge difference in my daily PH swings. I dont worry about pesticides because I dont spray any under the house. if I eer need to, its an easy unhook and wait until it is aired out.

No grass where this window is and the opening is so small. I think the air in my house with wife 2 kids and 2 dogs would be worse then outside.

Update

OK now it's really kicked in look at this

Look at the 3rd from that point on my PH has been perfect. It did take about 15 days for the fresh Air to really start working. So be patient.

Hopefully, that is not your pH meter drifting out of calibration.

I did calibrate my probe just to make sure. lol

Also the temp dropped by 20 degrees and the humiliated is 47% outside does that help ?

Sounds good.

FWIW, the humidity would only impact pH only if you used limewater or other high pH additive in your evaporation replacement, which would increase as humidity decreased..

I have the same issue but don't have a widow around to run a line out. Is there really an issue wit the ph being around 7.85 consistently? I open my windows and within a matter of hours it jumps to 8.3.

Some corals will likely grow faster at higher pH (and hence might be considered more "healthy" or at least more resistant to potential problems), but many fine reef aquaria have the ph down to pH 7.8 or so without apparent issues.

So I would not consider it critical to get ph above tyour current level.

I would be more and more concerned as the pH drops further and further below about 7.8. At some pH in the mid 7's, aragonite skeletons will potentially slowly dissolve.
