Fresh Air Pump Ideas?

Hi reefers so I want to get fresh air pumped into the aquarium while also running a C02 scrubber. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good solution for an air pump that pulls from outside via a hose inlet?

I also was wondering if there are any more DIYs for PH?

Currently I run C02 scrubber and Kalk but my PH is almost always below 7.8.

Where is your tank located?

My tank is on the main floor and all my sump, filtration is in the basement. Ended up installing an ERV unit to supply with fresh air. You could also install a fan to pull air out and another to bring fresh air in.

Hey it's located in a recessed expansion room on our main floor that I could drill a hole through a door or the wall nearby. The thing is I haven't seen any air pumps that you can add a vacuum / inlet line to... Wondering if there is something I could DIY for it.

Are you sure your PH issue is due to CO2? If you are already running a scrubber, I am not sure bringing in more fresh air is going to do much.

I ended up using epoxy to glue a teed off line coming from my cO2 scrubber to the bottom intake port of a regular aquarium air pump connected to a wood air stone in front of my return pump. I do bubble scrubbing with this every night for 6 hours, keeps my sand white. Now here’s the bad part, it hasn’t made a difference in my PH at all.

Hmmm I'm hesitant to use an inline fan kind of want to just put the outside air into the tank and not the surrounding area ( it's cold out lol ). I guess I could just T off the line from the protein skimmer and use CO2 absorb and fresh air pulling in... not sure if that would really do anything though . I bought an ultra-fine bubbler to do the microbubbles deal too it seems like a neat idea.

So some things I have going for me:

• Older House Not Super Air Tight
• Run Jumbo CO2 Scrubber from BRS
• Dose Kalk
• Run an airstone in the tank
• Change about 8-10% water every week
• Chaeto with a Kessil Grow Light
• MaxSpect Gyre ( pretty good powerhead )

Things Going against me:

• 3 Humans, 1 Dog, and 2 Cats
• Had a tank crash last year in this tank from Cyano
• Dose 3x BioDigest and 3x BioOptima ( Bioclean ) beneficial bacteria every 2 weeks pre their instructions ( Carbon Dosing with Live Bacteria )
• Have much more than needed live rock in the sump as well as 2 bio blocks ( not sure if this matters )
• kind of a n00b at Chemistry but getting better

Is there anyone who has taken apart an air pump maybe and run an air tube as an inlet? Maybe I could just get a "protein skimmer bubbler plate"?

Make sure your PH probe is calibrated correctly, something sounds off. Also, if you’re running a CO2 scrubber then try to have the least amount of water movement at the top of your tank as possible so your not mixing the water with your indoor air and increasing CO2 again. Also, buy a CO2 monitor from Amazon and see what your indoor levels are at.

My tank is in the basement which is sealed up pretty tight. I run a reactor through my skimmer containing soda ash.....my PH went from around 7.7 to 8.3, and has held there since. My daughter would have friends sleep over in the basement and my PH would plummet....it holds steady now.

Alrighty, I'll get a PH probe adjustment kit and make sure it is working properly. Went ahead and bought a C02 reader from Amazon I'll update here after I give it a check .

I wonder if the C02 is collecting in that room though it is recessed and the lowest area of the house... and I may have taken out fans when I did a remodel ( I need to add more in I actually really miss having more air movement in the house ).

Does anyone know a DIY of or where to buy "Venturi Pumps" by chance, trying to find something to get fresh air in still even though that may not be the problem...

My PH did go up to 7.9 from 7.5 after I upped my Kalk level a bit ( 1/2 Tea Spoon per gal to 1 TSP per gal), did a water change, and tuned my skimmer a bit better.

Also is there anything I can be dosing? I have a Neptune Doser and BRS Doser that I am still getting setup.
