I'm heading to APC Branford later today to pick up some PE Mysis. I notice they sell live brine shrimp there, is it OK to dump a bag of them into my biocube? Should I turn off my pump for abit so I don't suck as many into my filtration?

Just my two cents... but the warm incubation temperatures and metabolites from the hatching medium create ideal conditions for a bacteria bloom. Rinsing of the brine shrimp in a fine mesh net or sieve using clean fresh or salt water is important before feeding them to your fish.

I wouldn't dump the whole bag in at once. When I pick up live brine from APC, I keep it in the fridge. I let them come to room temp and then use a baster to feed them to the tanks. They stay alive in the fridge, just slow down a bit. 2 servings usually lasts me a few days with multiple tanks.

as you have a nano Id suggest either SASS or AVASQUEZ methods. salinity for nine is usually lower and the water is pretty dirty.

pick up a brine shrimp net, scoop em out and shake the net in the tank. Turkey baster is pretty easy though.

Remember it's fresh water so in a small tank it will change ur salinity also the water they are usually are in is full of nitrate and phos so best to atleast strain them if you want them to be better for ur fish feed them pyoto a half hour or hour before you strain them ;)

keep in fridge and rinse and feed small portions . a little goes a long way
