I came back to a pretty big diatom bloom. Probably need to start checking the parameters. What test kits are people using?

For ammonia and nitrite: API work fine. You can use API for nitrate at this point as well. Over time you'll want to upgrade. Salifert is a reliable and cost effective choice. If you start keeping higher end coral I advise you to invest in Hana Checker kits, but not absolutely necessary.
