I have a Dej Sailfin in quarantine that I am treating with Metroplex and Selcon for hole in the head. Well he has also been yawning, flashing and flaring his gills, so today I thought I would give him a fresh water dip to check for Flukes.
I matched the temp and ph to the tank and aerated before putting the tang into the dip. I timed the dip for 5 minutes then put him back into his quarantine tank. After returning the tang to the quarantine, he is now spending a lot of time sitting in front of the power head. He is still doing the occasional yawn, flash, and gill flaring but now has also started to twitch. I could not tell if there were any flukes in the bucket but I am very worried about the tang's response to the dip.
I know that the power head behavior is a sign of velvet, but why would this start after a fresh water dip? I would appreciate any thoughts on the issue.
