So our yellow tang got the ich. We dipped it once and it’s looking much better. It’s never stopped eating it’s moving around a lot more the cleaner shrimp are helping. My question should I dip the fish again. If so how often should I dip.

A fw dip won’t help with ich. It’s possible your tang has flukes or velvet. If either of those a dip will only provide a temporary relief and you must complete the treatment to get rid of.

Not sure I understand. All articles I’ve read talk about fw dips to kill off the parasite on the fish. It’s not velvet might be flukes
Yes fw dips help temporarily with certain parasites, just not ich because it’s too deep in the epithelium.
If you suspect flukes then you should follow the treatment in the link. Usually we use prazipro or api general cure. The reason for adding an antibiotic is that a fw dip may not get rid of all flukes, especially those in the gills.
If it’s flukes then no need to use copper. Do you have a picture of the tang?
#mods can you pls move this to the fish disease forum to get more attention?
Did most spots go away after a fw dip?
You can start with prazi in your tank to see if that helps. Make sure to have good flow etc. If after 24hrs the spots are still there then it could be ich or velvet (although I would be surprised a tang survive that long with velvet).

The spots have been there for the entire time over a full week. Fish still eats fine swimming around it’s lip is white. I think it’s fungal. I did a 20 gallon water change I have UV running I’m planning a 10 percent water change this week and follow that 5 percent weekly
If the spots did not drop after a fw dip, I would then assume this is ich. For ich treatment you will need copper or chloroquine phosphates. White around the mouth could be bacterial, fungal infections are rare in marine fish.

If the spots are small and too numerous to count - and these look like they are - then you're more likely looking at velvet than ich.
This also looks suspiciously similar to Brooklynella to me.
In either case, the time to move all fish into QT for treatment is as quickly as possible - neither of these diseases are to be trifled with.
Diatom filters can help with velvet and ich, but aren't likely to fully eradicate the parasites.
@Humblefish, @HotRocks or @4FordFamily may be more certain about the course you need to take than I.

I am setting up hospital tank tonight. But no one in my city carries cupermine or praz. I found pro form c and melafix at petsmart but. That’s it anyone use this stuff
That looks like brook or velvet to me. Copper and metroplex would do the trick. Metroplex for 14 days, copper for 14 if you transfer to another sterile tank that shares nothing from the first, or 30 days in the same tank.
It says on the bottle to not use with salt and it’s for pond fish only. The women at petsmart gave it to me for free but I think I’ll order cupermine on lineMelafix is unlikely to help much, but is the ProForm-C you found this stuff: https://pentairaes.com/proform-c.html
If so, that will help!
