Fresh water dip

I dipped a small zoa frag in fresh RODI water before putting it in my tank. However, the water was cold and the coral seems to have lost its color. Did I shock it too much by using cold water? It seems healthy otherwise.

Possibly. I would simply leave it be at this point and hope for the best. If the temperature was cold enough, it will absolutely kill the coral. If it was only a bit cold, it will shock the coral and the coral may recover. If it wasn't that cold, the zoa may just be acclimating (all of these are influenced by contact time*) . Without knowing the temperature of the water or dip duration, it's hard to tell- in any event, you'll likely have to wait and see.

It’s wait and see time I’m afraid. It won’t take long for the coral to give you your answer.

I'm not sure the exact temperature, but the water was from my fresh RODI storage which is kept covered in the basement. When I stuck the frag in and felt the water I immediately figured I made a mistake. It does close up when aggitated, I recently moved it, and opens fully. Just doesn't have the coloration to it. As you both mentioned, I'll just keep an eye on it and give it time. Lesson learned....
