I need to do a freshwater dip on a wrasse that still has a visible fluke after Prazi. I've never done one and I'm nervous.

There are people who claim to have done hundreds of them and never lost a fish not already on its deathbed. Does anyone have stores about freshwater dips that went poorly?

I did my first ever freshwater dips this year and it's definitely more mentally freaky then anything. Both my powder brown and naso tangs did just fine with a 5min bath. Heated to temperature and aerated for 30 minutes plus a splash of tank water for some ph and buffer.

Well, I did it, and I may have a fw dip horror story of of my own soon. He was in aerated heated freshwater with a splash of tank water for PH for exactly 5 minutes. Now he's back in the QT, but hiding in a corner and on his side. If there we're so many people who said freshwater dips are safe, I'd say he's dead for sure.

I can't tell about the fluke on his eye that I was trying to cure because of the way he's laying. I guess I'll know in a few hours.

I've done thousands of FW dips over the years, I've had a couple of fish just "conk out" from shock, but most of my issues were during capture/moving. I've had way more than my fair share of the fish jump out of the net onto the floor - I need to always remind myself to be more careful. Dipping a moribund fish, that is a different issue altogether - these frequently die, sometimes from shock, but other times from all of the dislodged flukes leaving so many holes in their skin that they bleed out.
