Does a freshwater dip for fish really work?

Also after the dip you shouldn't just put them.back in the tank correct?

Thoughts? Ideas?

Fresh water dips actually work! They work to help flush out the build up of excess mucus caused by parasites in the gills. It will only buy time for actual treatment in this case since most of the time the parasites causing this are either velvet or ick.

It also works for Flukes and Black ick. Mainly it is used to verify that either or both are present. It will kill quite a few adults and have them fall off into the water which will provide relief for the fish in the short term and allow for easier treatment with prazipro. Here is an example of a Kole Tang I did a freshwater dip on and the flukes that fell off (more accurately, they came pouring off) of him during it.

Nice photo documentation!

Thanks! It was a great opportunity because the flukes were so obvious and there were so many of them. Makes it easy to see in a picture. :)
