I was wondering if it would be possible, and if there's interest in having a freshwater forum on the site. One of the other reef sites I'm a member of keeps a forum dedicated to the other side of aquarium keeping. Any thoughts?

I think it could eventually help boost membership and sponsorship of the site as well.

Hey very cool with me. I can only see it as a plus really. So what just one General FW Forum?

I'd say one "everything FW" forum to start and see how it goes from there. If it really takes off it might need to be broken up some more.

I don't know jack about FW so some of you guys would need to make that forum a special project! :D

This will be awesome! I’ve been enjoying posting fuzzy out of focus saltwater pics, and now I can post fuzzy out of focus pics of my little albino monsters (oscars).

Wow, you must have a huge tank for all those oscars! I think we could make a go of a FW forum. FWIW I don't sell anything freshwater related; I just enjoy fish of all kinds. Freshwater dragon gobies, now those are awesome :-) Totally prehistoric looking.

Rev,

Another forum I belong to has a 'General Freshwater' forum which discusses everything from tanks, to Koi ponds to Brackish Paludarium. Really enjoyable to read from time to time. I used to raise Discus and a couple of the poster have nice planted Discus tanks that are awesome.

The Oscars are in a 55gal but it’s just a grow out tank they will be going out side in a pond as soon as they get a little bigger. I live in Florida so with a heater they will live through winter.

Ah, to live where things will make it through winter and the state doesn't essentially outlaw ponds. In Maine it's basically impossible to have a pond with ornamental fish. Koi are illegal. Have fun with them :-)

Thanks Rev!

What part of Maine? My wife was raised there. Will be there to visit family in couple weeks.

We operate out of Lisbon Falls. It's just east of Lewiston, about 40 minutes north of Portland on I-295.
