Freshwater guy diving in to salt

Hi all

I've kept freshwater planted tanks for 20+ years, manually dosing ferts, co2 dosing all that fun stuff. Kind of bored of it and I've been keeping an eye out for people selling off salt tanks and gear for awhile, finally after 2 good purchases I have a nice 75 gallon with a 20gal sump ready and waiting for me to... figure out what to do next! And a ton of assorted gear, I'll start a build thread up for it shortly here. I am very glad I didn't just jump in yet though - I recently watched through all of the BRS 5 minute guide to reefing and pretty sure I dodged a bullet on a few things I was about to do, like re using live rock from a tank that was clearly getting nuked by algae and possible worse.

This seems like a great resource and I'm excited to learn some more, and get this tank filled up and looking good! Take care and happy reefing to everyone!

Welcome! Glad you joined.

Wonderful you are already considering starting your build thread! I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID). It is never too early!

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
