Never even heard about zoapox until reefpets mentioned them..and now I think I have the stupid things!

I read the information about moving them into a tank without any of the water they were in previously. I'm wondering that if I just switch them to another tank of mine, and the sexy shrimp have a chance to clean them, if they'll begin to lose the zoapox.

I'm also thinking about doing the furan 2 dip method...

I guess my question is if anyone thinks that my first method (another tank/sexy shrimp cleaning) will get rid of the problem.

Thats why I was warning people on the forums that it was time for Zoa Pox again. The idea of putting them in a separate tank is that all of the tank water is new saltwater. If you have a rubbermaid and a heater then you can use that. Do a 50 percent water change everyday and it should take care of it. But, the sooner the better! If its spreads too much then you will have to dip them which can be a pain!

I tried to scrape off the zoapox on a couple "test-zoas". This actually seemed to work on the fresher pox. The zoas have already opened up.

I have done that as well. it worked for me. I have tried all the different ways to rid them. In my ventures of dealing with zoa pests it when there stressed they so south like new fish. do you best to find out what is making them stressed.

furan 2 method worked very well for me but make sure and do it for a solid 2-3 weeks, 4 days dip then 3 days rest and continue and will eliminate them

Think I should dip all my zoas? Even ones that aren't affected?

no i would only do the ones you know are infected, the furan 2 dip can be kinda rough on them and make them wanna stay closed up thats why they recomend doing 4 days dip 3 days to recover and then start over. and try and make sure to mix it about the same strength each time. and you can lower the strength a little bit each week, as logn as u see they are going away and getting better.

the first time i did it i did the dip for the 4 days and seen the spots were gone and stopped, they came back within 2 days and had to start over again so i did for 3 weeks worth and they never came back. and only bothered 2 frags i had so got lucky i guess..

If you read my thread about fragging my Rastas, I am now dealing with zoapox. I've dipped my Rasta colony now 4 times in Furan and they are getting better. I did read on melevsreef about zoapox occuring around this time of year. Now I hear you mention it again. Why does it happen during these months?

Haven't heard of using the sexy shrimp to rid zoapox.

Quick update...

Trying to scrape the "zoapox" off the zoas was a temporary fix. Some it seemed to work on, others it didn't.

Purchased the Furan-2 Monday...began treatment then, dipped yesterday, about to dip today... So far the problem doesn't look like it's getting worse..I can't say that it's getting better yet...but I'm only two treatments in...very curious if this'll work :)

It will, just stick to it I saved 2 of my frags with it. Just dont skip a day or 2. Cuz it comes back fast, and do it atleast 2 weeks, cuz 1 round never cured mine. Would be all gone then back within a day.

Will do.

The instructions said 3 days and then wait...didn't you say 4 days and then wait? Is 4 days better for zoapox?

and no way I'm skipping a day...going to do this perfectly because I don't feel like losing these expensive zoas :P

either way shouldnt matter... i went 4 with 3 days rest and it worked but i think either way should be good

currently letting them sit in the dip...

one last lil question...I decided to just dip all my zoas...figured there was no point in dipping just the infected ones...what did you do? All or only the ones with the symptoms?

i did only the ones that had it. and none of my others ever got it. its can be very stressful on them thats why they say not to use a full dose on them.. i got it in packet form and used about half a packet at the most, for the first week, and then a little less the second week, and about a 1/4 pack the 3rd week.

So a half packet of furan 2 in a cup of water, does anyone vary on this to dip a couple of zoas at a time

Been doing the treatments...all I can say is that I don't think that just two treatments is the way to go...and I don't think you should only select the ones that show signs of zoapoxs only and rather you should nuke them all.

Still dealing with this crap.

I said in the beginning 2 round wont do it gotta do 3-5. I used half gallon zip lock bags half full of tank water, then add furan 2 till is pea green. Shake up well to mix and then add frags, 30 min dips. Dip 3-4 days straight then rest them for 3-4days. Do this for atleast 3 weeks.
