Fritz Salt Issues?

Dont know - but the mixing instructions are 'identical' no other salt requires this type of 'mixing' (of which I'm aware). With so many people having no problem - and looking at the complexity of the instructions for mixing - my guess is that there could be many reasons for problems
Red Sea Coral Pro has similar do not over mix instructions.

On the fritz for about a year now...
Challices died
Montiporas died and dying
Hammers lost heads
Lost acans
TONS of acros died
Thousands of dollars

My parameters..
Sg 1.026
Alk 8.2
Calcium 440
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 8 PPM
Phosphate .0 PPM
Mg 1410
Ph 8.2
Temp 77.7

I haven't seen an over mix instruction - at least on the website - the instructions are 'word for word' identical.
Or nearly so.

They have a video and written instructions to not over mix to prevent precipitation.. They also say some things about it that make no sense and when questioned, their tech rep said even more nonsensical things.

Can attest to them saying this, heard Scott speak at an event about their salt and something to do with powerheads having ultra high heat on certain surfaces of the propeller. That over time would cause precipitation. Made about zero sense

Oh - I was just answering someone's question that wondered if Live Aquaria's salt is rebranded Fritz salt - And I just noticed that the instructions (and the descriptions of the products) are almost identical if not identical - suggesting that they might be the same. the directions for the Red Sea coral salt is different (though you're right it does mention over mixing - which agreed makes no sense.

Been using fritz RPM Blue for almost 2 years. Never had any issues listed prior to this. I mix 1cup per 2 gallons. And I make 25g at a whack. Every 10 mins I add 3 cups slowly. Until I'm at 1.026.

SPS and monti's are colored and happy... :shrugs:

Sorry to hear everyone's troubles. :(

The only time I could see overmixing causing a problem would be with a bad pump leaking current. The tie wrap on the bags of Live Aquaria and Fritz are also identical. I have never had a problem with LA maybe they require a more stringent QC on what comes to them

I take back everything I said regarding fritz.... Both a local fish store, I, and a friend of mine are having issues in the last few weeks. Almost Immediate loss of PE after as little as a 20% water change using a new box. RTN the next morning. Trying to dilute it back using Red Sea Blue Bucket.

no one can tell if you're being tongue in cheek here - but - I wish you well with your tank....

I’m not unfortunately. I guess it just took me longer than others to hit the bad batch. Can also send you the name of the fish store...
Wish you the best man - with your tank, Its a horrible problem

How bad is the damage? :(

Oh no! Sorry to hear!

3 colonies down so far, couple grand down the drain (Literally rejected an offer for 1.2k two weeks ago for one of the colonies). Oh well. I moved many racks of frags to my other tank, and am seeing improvements after around 80% worth of water changes. Its really a terrible hobby at times!

I feel worse for the fish store though. Losses on a whole different scale.

It was really weird. I buy 4 boxes at a time, there was nothing wrong with the previous batch. Ill already sent in an ICP test of the "bad box", and hope to find some explanation.
Yes please do. Very interested in the results

Sorry to hear my gut wrenches when I hear things like this

Fritz salt is not consistent with its parameters. Last bag I purchased had calcium at 360. Reached out to their customer support and was told to check on my Refractometer calibration as their QC report for the batch shows 420. I double checked and same result. Switched to RCP and params were spot on as per the label. I don't often write negative reviews but its seems to be a problem costing many. They need to improve on quality.
