I won a bucket of Fritz Reef Pro Mix from a raffle at the lfs today. Anybody ever heard of it? Thoughts or experience with this salt mix is much appreciated. I have never heard of the brand before so if they suck i wanna know before i use it to start my newest tank. Thanks in advance!

no experience with this brand? well ok then. I guess ill just go with what I find on google.

Salt is ok but never tried it long term. I was only given enough to make 10 gallons at a fish show.

The only info im able to find on it, is from another local club that got some freebies at a frag swap. This guy tested it and found the calcium, magnesium, and alk to be low right off the bat. It would need dosing every water change. Im going to test it myself as well.

Any updated results?i have a bucket of it and been wanting to make the switch and would love some updated info!

not yet. my husband mixed up some for our live rock to wait in. I'm going to be mixing up more for my upgrade on Tuesday. I'll run a gambit of tests on it and let ya know for sure.

Please do...I not apposed to dosing if needed just curious to the long term parameters ..thanks in advanced

I'm not sure about long term yet. But I'll be keeping an eye on it. I'll run tests on it freshly made then just keep track of it for a month or so.

I know this is a really old post but I am curious to see what results you had with this salt?

fritz has been around for a very long time, they do medications and all sorts of aquarium related products. i'd be pretty comfortable using that salt but of course test to see the parameters

I tried it for about 6 months,my only problem was the high alkalinity (12 dkh)the growth was awesome on the sps but it was hard to maintain calcium..others might have different results but I run my system with a calcium reactor

Myself and many others have been using it long term for well over a year. Parameter's always spot on as listed on there sight.
You might want to look on face book and see there results. By the way my system is 1200 gallons . Another persons is 20,000 gallons
Hope this help's

Personally, I stopped using it for anything but fish QT. I must have had a bad batch because the numbers were all over the place when I tested each time. It was a long time ago so I don't remember what they were, but my tank looked terrible. Things were dying, browning out, drooping. I switched to Salinity by AquaVitro and things started turning around pretty quick after that. I'll never use the fritz salt again, but that's just me. I've had many people tell me that they've had no problems at all. I even talked to a fritz rep that came into the store about it and he was pretty useless in his help. He offered to get me a free bucket of it to try again, but never followed through. He also suggested that it was just a bad batch.
