Hello!

Has anyone used Fritz Zyme 9 to start your cycle? What did you think of it? I tried to find a review on Youtube and only found one, LFS owner swears by it. Says he uses it in every tank he has. It's not that i don't trust him, but it's one person. I want your opinion (PS i already added it to my tank, it's been about 8 hours)

I use biospira. It works well. I have also used Dr Tims in the past. I don't have any personal experience with the Fritz product. @Dr. Reef did a study comparing bacteria in a bottle products and found that the more concentrated version of the product you are speaking of worked the best.

i havent used zyme 9 yet for my study, i tested turbo start 900 which is the refrigerated product. The study to compare the two is on and will be about 3-4 weeks down the road.
From what i have talked to Fritz its a shelf stable non refrigerated product a bit less concentrated than Turbo Start 900. It should work well just my opinion.
My guess will be 3-4 days for it to cycle the tank upto 120 gal. (starting ammonia under 1.5ppm)

Note: i am very curious what your outcome will be. please update and also tell me the following:

1. tank size
2. sand/rock in tank
3. starting ammonia levels

I used the Fritzyme 9 to cycle my tank. I dosed ammonia to 2 ppm. It took about 2.5 weeks until both ammonia and nitrite were 0 ppm. Ammonia got to 0 ppm within a couple of days. After nitrite reached 0 ppm, I dosed my tank to 2 ppm ammonia, and in 24 hours, with ammonia and nitrite were 0 ppm. Added fish that weekend and still have them 19 months later.

My tank is a reefer 170.

I'm about to start battling chrystophytes and ordered some fritzyme 9 to aid the nitrifying bacteria in my tank

I started my current tank with it as well. Dry rock and dry sand.

As Island said above you will need to feed the bacteria with ammonia to keep the population growing. My cycle completed in about 3 weeks as well. I think it is a great product and will be using it to cycle my tanks from now on. Not sure if this product has anything to do with it but my "uglies" phase after the initial cycle was almost non-existent.
