Hello my fellow refers, I have a frog spawn that is acting a little weird IMO. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have had him on rocks medium light and he did OK but I had a leak shut everything off no flow for few hours and man did he open up so I moved him in a little higher light little less flow and in the sand well I don't think he liked that at all because he now has a bare spot and barley opens.
Now I have moved him into corner of tank low to medium light and very low flow.
Here is the confusion everything I know about frog spawn they are pretty resilient and can be put in a verity of places, rocks, sand, low to medium high light, low to medium high flow. Is it possible that mine is a little on the special side and doesn't like sand or doesn't like flow at all? Has Anyone experienced this in their vast years and knowledge of Euphyllia? I love this little guy and want him to be happy.

Oh and I am still new to forum so if I did not post this in the right place I apologize and just let me know.

What I have noticed with my frog spawn is they like medium flow to medium light.. I have mine in almost center tank and he grows like a weed

Welcome to R2R. Typically with frogspawn medium light and low to moderate indirect flow will keep the coral happy. You should keep it in a spot where it's opening and let it acclimate. When we grew euphyllia corals, whenever I did water changes and the pumps shut down they would expand greatly but it didn't mean they were happier. I would put the coral back where it was and leave the coral alone and just watch it for a bit.

I agree. Let it sit in the spot for a bit to get adjusted.

All great points mentioned above. Although they can thrive in most types of light and flow, they need 2 things.
1: Time to settle in
2: Nutrients in the water (NO3,PO4)
What are your water parameters looking like?
Temp
PH
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
Phosphate
Alkalinity
Calcium
Magnesium

Also what lights do you have?

Water parameters are good po4 is in range but on high side.
Yea I think I will move him back to where he was happy and adjust the flow a little so it's a little less for him and see how that goes.

What is “good” and “high side”.

Okay what about Nitrates (NO3) and Phosphates (PO4) numbers?
