What do I need to do for my frog Spawn to open up? The upper part isn't opening up anymore, it did

Mg and Ca are a little low for my likings. I try to keep my Mg around 1400 and my Ca around 420-440. Not sure if this is the problem though.

My concern would be flow and light. I kept my frogspawn in higher light and it was not happy. I moved it slightly lower light, and it was happier than ever! And for flow they don't like to get blasted. A good flow to keep their tissue moving, but nothing that could rip it from the skeleton.

Another thought would be to watch to see if something is bothering it. Maybe a shrimp or hermit.

Last thought is, did you dip it prior to placing in the tank? I had a torch that I did not dip...I know my bad...but it wouldn't open. I finally dipped and found EEFW (flatworms) have infested it. It sadly didn't make it.

Hope these are good places to start!

Did not dip. How do I do this ?

It's up high in tank I'll move it down lower in the tank.

It is very important to dip all new corals in a coral dip. Here are many brands out there. I use SeaChem coral dip, but any will do. All you do is mix a capful or two with aquarium water and place the coral in the solution for 10-15 minutes. This removes most hitchhikers that could harm your tank. I learned the hard way and now I dip EVERY coral that I place in my tank.

I'm going to lean towards too much light on this one. If you just got the coral and placed it high in the tank from day one, it may have gotten blasted with light.

A good rule of thumb is to acclimate your new corals to your light as you would to temperature. Start the at the bottom and gradually move them higher in the tank. They will let you know when enough is enough.
