So I’ve got a 45 gallon lagoon tank and a dream for frogfish. I’ve got a couple questions about them too.

I’m looking into getting either a painted or warty frog just cause I think they’re the prettiest, are these a good choice for a reefing amateur? Will it be okay in a 45 gallon? Does anybody have any feeding suggestions? I’ve got a lot of experience with coral and easy fish, I feel like this is my first fish that requires special attention and diet.

Can they have tank mates? Currently there are 5 small damsels in the tank. I can take them out if need be. Wondering if I can possibly have two frogfish in the same tank? What are good tank mates for them? Are they okay with aggressive corals like anemones? I’m thinking a Madagascar coral croucher and possibly some swimming around fish like a dwarf angel?

Are they okay in a mixed reef tank with quite a bit of flow or should I turn it down? It’s currently an sps tank but I can convert it to lps/softies/nems if need be.

sorry for such a long post, I just saw a painted frog at my lfs and really loved him but I want to do my research before buying. Thanks!!!

They will eat small fish given the chance. This guy has a lot of experience with them. Check out this vid. It’ll tell you everything
