Frogfish tank upgrade, room for additional inhabitants?

Now that my Warty frog has started to put on some size I've gotten his next tank set up. New tanks is a JBJ 30 AIO.

New tank mate is not necessarily needed, but with how sedentary he is it would be nice to have a little movement. My initial thoughts were a fu man chu lion or small fuzzy dwarf, but open to other options.

If these are not good ideas to house with him please let me know why.

A fu would not be a bad choice, so very weird I have 2, one is in a 90 and swims like a fiend. The other is in a 40 and scoots around and perches alot, still likes swimming room but their style of swimming is a little weird. Imo a fuzzy needs much more swimming room.

Are you feeding live food?

I do feed live food and don't think I'll be even attempting to switch over to dead/frozen. Ghosties and other feeder fare are easy for me to get as my LFS regularly stocks them and are willing to get larger quantities should I end up needing them. I also buy a few dozen at a time and keep them here at home in a separate tank.

I had felt the same about the fuzzy, but wasn't sure as I've never kept them and the ones I've seen in person always seemed to be fairly inactive.

There's a misconception about the dwarf lions being inactive, mainly because they are kept in tanks that I frankly believe are too small and are not given live food. I am glad you are going to feed live. When you get the fu and warty together and in a little larger tank, you'll likely even see the warty get more active. You may have seen some of the vids I've posted of my warty swimming, he would take a few recon missions every day.

I would recommend keeping your small tank set up for a qt/observation tank for the fu, treat with general cure and get him fattened up under observation. I've never had any success with any meds with an angler, and so many times lions come in with parasites or worms. A fu/warty true predator tank will be very cool.
