Is this normal? New frogspawn coral seems to open up a bit more at night but also likes to slump over

Im 90% sure thats a leather coral, and yes new leather corals usually stay closed for like a couple of days.

That looks like a type of leather, frogspawn has a hard calcium skeleton that can’t slump.

This is likely a toadstool coral and needs to be elevated in the path of medium water flow and moderate lighting.
Elevate it and give it a few blasts with a turkey baster and you will see it perk up shortly after. Adding iodine and iron to water occasionally also helps

Thats definitely not a Frogspawn. Leather for sure. Likes good flow as @vetteguy53081 said and good lighting. I keep my small toadstool on the top of my rockwork .

Moved it up on a rock higher in the tank… still flopping over and not really opening

My concern here is did you pay frogspawn price for a leather?!

Leather can be finicky, I lost one from messing with it to much. After placement if it's enough light and flow it will open. They can stay like that for a week.
