So my friend fragged me a single head of his frogspawn colony. it was doing very well for about a month but two days ago it detached. The polyp is still fully inflated and resting on the sand bed. Is there any way it can grow a new base or should I just throw it out?

Don't throw it away. I didn't think this possible, but a person's survived off the skeleton, settled in a place in the rock and grew. I told him the coral was a goner...... I was wrong.

That's usually a last ditch effort to save itself. Something is off with the parameters of your setup (lighting, flow, chemistry, etc.)

Mine did the same thing. I'm still not clear why. I did a big water change as I assumed something was off with my chemistry. Are you dosing anything?

This is in my 12 gal jbj and I keep it as my low maintenance tank so I don't dose it, Just do weekly water changes. Everything else in the tank, including a torch and a hammer are growing and happy so idk.
