Frogspawn dying

One of my heads on my frog spawn is falling off and I noticed this red thing growing out of it and was wondering if it could be the cause because the other head doesn’t have one and seems perfectly fine

i took off the red growth but I don’t know what it is

Sorry I’m just seeing this but the tank is only 4-5 months old. And I’ve been complacent and haven’t been testing but I just spent about $250 on a bunch of different test kits so I’m waiting for them to come in I was just confused because everything else in the tank is fine even the other head so I don’t know why just that one died
