Frogspawn help

I just got this new frogspawn from mr. D. At first when I put it in my tank it was closed but looking good. After awhile it opened back up and looked like this

Now it is all closed back up and starting to loose it's green polyps.

I texted my water and ammonia is 0, nitrites are basically 0, ph 8.3, nitrates are alittle high at 40-80.

Is the high nitrate level causing this?

I have been running my dual MH and Actinic fixture with actiniccs only, which is what I do for the first few days, for new coral...

Any ideas?

I had a rogue peppermint shrimp and a cleaner shrimp shred some frogspawn once before. If you have any shrimp you might want to watch out for them.

Nitrites should be at zero, not basically zero. Alkalinity is at what level? Salinity? Nitrates are high but I don't think that would cause the tissue loss. Something shocked it good and water changes, but not too excessive, are likely your best bet. Unfortunately once tissue loss sets in it can be hard to reverse it. How are the other corals in the system doing?

After letting the nitrite tube set, it turned out to be zero.... I had read it before it had time to fully develop. Salinity, is 1.025, my all test kit is out, so I wasn't able to test it. Everything else seems fine.

Did you do anything unusual upon acclimation? Did you treat it for parasites upon acclimation? If so, with what? You've had the coral for just under 1 week now?

I did not dip the coral before putting it in my tank. Nothing out of the ordinary, except my daught flipped on my MH ballast while I was gone.... I came back a few hours later, saw it and turned it off. It has been under two 24w ati blue plus actiniccs ever since.

Are you referring to Nitrites or Nitrates here?

You can dip in Lugol's or revive and that may help. Otherwise move it to a low light, low flow area and hope for the best. These Euphyllia corals do this sometimes unfortunately with no real explanation other than a change of tank. The ones I've lost are usually due to a bacterial infection.

Ok, just wanted to be sure

I'm going to go with the Nitrate shock...I'm fairly certain that Tanner keeps his Nitrates as close to 0 as possible and the Euphyllia isn't taking well to the excess nutrients.

I've been meaning to change my filter pads any how. So I got several deep blue nitrate reducing pads. I'll change my pads, out and I got some instant ocean nitrate reducing liquid, it is just a band aid, but my well water is super high in nitrates, and my rodi unit died on me, so I gotta get. New one.

Also watch out for your hermit crabs belive it or not anytime ive ever seen any kind of recession in a frogspawn I would always see a little hermit on it the last night of that particular stems existence!

Well it's losing tissue at an alarming rate now. I pulled out my bio box, been meaning to do that, noticed both of my two little fishies reactors were off. They are both running all in one bio pellets... So that will help.

I really need to get on my refugium, but my sump does not have a place for one...
