So I was doing my maintenance on my reef and I saw a frogspawn tentacle floating in my tank. Is this normal? The colony is heathy and the only other time I saw it do that was the day I got it. It's starting to worry me a little because I have no idea what that means!

No baby............ sorry my friend.
Just a release that just happen by time, nothing to worry about.

Kinda thought they weren't [emoji23] Good to know there's nothing to worry about. But what causes this? Is it strong flow ripping them off or just something all frogspawn do, my other colony doesn't do this

I've seen it when they're particularly happy and sad. So to me it's a toss up.

Do you keep frogspawn and does this happen to you too then?

To me, it's like when we shed hair, and skin cells. I had a wall hammer, that left nuggets on the substrate, I kinda figured someone was picking, but never found anyone.

Does the tentacles ever harm your other corals?

OH YES............. Torches are the meanest of all cause their 6" sometimes when the colony got big up till 10" of sweepers.
And not only the sweepers can do some damage the tips just as much.
Once they found a coral close by it's on............. we call that "coral warfare" no kidding.

I know about coral warfare I've seen my large bubble Coral colony and their sweeper tentacles, it's fun to watch them eat though. So do you keep your frogspawn, hammer, and torches together? I've read that hammers and frogspawn are good together with no problem but torches are not

Think the rule is hammers and frogspawn can be close, but torches should be only with torches.

My bubble tips sometimes let go of a tentacle here and there also.

Okay, so do corals with tentacles do this? Because my frogspawn just let go of another one
