My frogspawn had some brown stringy stuff coming from it and the last couple days it hadn’t been fully extended like it usually was. I’ve also noticed some reddish brown stringy stuff popping up on the sand and rocks.

I pulled the brown stringy stuff off and it didn’t smell terrible when I took it out of the tank. I’ve heard BJD smells like death.

It’s fine. Frogspawn are weird and close up more than other euphyllia from time to time, probably just pooping. 0 nitrates is not ideal for euphyllia, definitely wanna raise them .

I’ve started using Red Sea coral pro but it’s only gone up a little bit. Was hoping it would go up more...guess I’ll need to start dosing Alk.
Yea the more LPS/SPS you add the more the tank will need. I say ALK is the single most important parameter in the tank besides salinity. Definitely should dose

Before dosing alk- get the frag off the sand. Sand will irritate it . Additionally on the tank bottom, likely lacking water flow. Moderate light and water flow is best along with the following. . . . . .

Temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.025
nitrate < .04
Phos < .04
Ammonia < .03
alk 8-9
mag 1300
CA 440

Be careful when dosing alk and switching to coral pro. It mixes over 11alk. Dosing and a water change may end it a large swing.

Right now my frogspawn is my only coral. I’ll do some daily Alk tests this week to get an idea of what my tank is using.

Agree with everything besides the frag being on the sandbed. I’d only move it if there were fish turning it and covering with them sand. I’ve kept countless corals on the sandbed and never had an issue, ever.

The frogspawn is up on the rocks. Lighting is an AI Hydra 32...on 75% acclimation right now. Flow is the MightyJet with RFG nozzles. It’s an IM Nuvo 20 tank.

If you only have one coral then i would probably say water changes would be enough to keep the alk up. And if not slowly bring it up with small doses and then find out how often you have to dose to keep it around 9

Bring your alk up slowly and you should be ok. All suggestions above good advice.

How many watts is the light currently running at? I have a hydra 32 on my lagoon 25 and I run it at about 36 watts or 40% power and I have no less than 40 different euphyllia in there.

Would you mind sharing your AI schedule? I’m not sure where I can find what power it’s running at. I just finished a 30 day 50% acclimation and just started a new 30 day at 75% acclimation. Here’s what my schedule looks like:

I had mine on sandbed when they were frags and they were sulking. Low par and water flow. I brought them up 3" and here are my many colonies now:
