so I have this octopus coral that only had 8 heads on it when I frist bought it at LFS and it was Great to see - Great long Green Tentacles with nice bright green color to it. it was that way for 3 or 4 months. anyway about 10 or 12 months ago or maybe longer it sorta closed up shop and stopped displaying really long tentacles. it looks like one day it went to sleep and never woke up..
the weird thing is it is growing more heads all the time. sometimes baby's and sometimes its heads split into two.. there are now 30 heads.
I do not direct feed it and it is in the same place since day one. it is not in a direct flow area of the tank but there is movement. there is a large wall hammer and a couple of small frogspawns that are doing great and look great in the same section of the tank.
the parameters I maintain are
50 gallon water change every Sunday on a 400 total gallon system
water at 78 degrees
sg @ 1.024
PH 8.2
DKH 11
nitrates <=1
nitrites <=0
Calcium 420ppm
Phosphates 0
I add 12 drops of lugols every Wednesday
on Sunday after my water change I also add 2 full caps (about 100ml) of Aquavitro fuel. the directions say twice a week but once a week seems fine for my system.
any suggestions ?
