Was gifted this from a friend of mine, its been in the tank for about 3 days now and its just sucked in super tight and spewing out brown slime...

All other corals are happy except for a flopped over leather..

Parameters are pretty good, i do have a very slight cyano issue that is dying off
Alk = 10.1
Salinity = 1.025
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 20
Phosphate - .80
Calcium = 460
Mag = 1320
Ammonia = 0

**hes not directly in the sand, hes mounted to a big disk thats algaed over

Brown jelly disease. Common for euphyllia corals, especially in new tanks. Here is a great thread with different treatment options:

Also suggest you get it off the sand. I know you said its on a disc, but that doesn’t matter. If the sand gets stirred up, it can be irritated. Maybe you can try again when you get it healthy, but for now I would get it on a rock. Your parameters look pretty good. Alk is a little too high for a new tank IMO, but not a huge deal if you keep nutrients up. What kind of lighting do you have?

At first i suspected brown jelly but its been doing this for 3 days and this is more of a stringy snot not blobs...

Mine closes when it is pooping, long brown stingy stuff which looks similar to yours but never for 3 days. As mentioned get it off the sand and place it in a spot with moderate flow and par. Can you provide a side shot so I can see it’s flesh band?

I dont have rock space large enough for it so i set it on top of a coral cage, also it appears to NOT be on a disk as i originally though but possibly just a cutting as the bottom is very porous looking

flesh band looks healthy?

I have a wall hammer that did the same thing. If it’s a wall I’d recommend leaving it alone to not stress it out even more. Are your phosphates .8 or .08? Mine are doing well at .08-.1.

Sorry but no, the flesh band should be 1-2”down from the head. Not a complete lost cause but close. I was given a torch from a local reefer because it was on it’s way out, he said I could have it if I wanted to try and bring it back. It’s been over a year and doing great. It had very little flesh band. I would dip it in Lugol’s iodine, put in proper light and flow and target feed it a couple times a week with something meaty like mysis. Fingers crossed.

It is a wall, phosphates are 0.80 probably lower now as i did a water change last night.

Ive been watching the fleshband pretty closely and it hasnt shrunk since i put it in my tank, i did spot feed small mysis + brine yesterday

ive heard about Lugols iodine but cant seem to find info as using it as a dip, only as a tank supplement..do you know where i could read about making it into a dip solution? or explain it to me? thanks!

That is good that it is not continuing to recede. I typically add it to a cup of tank water until it is slightly less than the color of ice tea. I put the coral in for about 8 minutes or a little longer. When I remove it I rinse it with tank water and replace it into the tank.
