Can anyone help with my frogspawn, it was fine until Saturday morning and its now started shedding its polyps.

All parameters seem ok

Alkalinity 7.883
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 4.2
Phosphate 0.04
Calcium 410
Magnesium 1290
Salinity 34.4 ppt (1.0259 sg)
PH 8.1

Its a fairly new tank (about 2 months) but everything else seems happy. The only issues I have is a bit of diatoms and I currently a bacterial bloom

while the parameters show ok right now, it is a new tank, and diatoms and bacterial bloom is an indication that your water is not stable. We can only test for a very few parameters, but there is a lot more going on that we can't test for. It could possible be your lighting and flow, but usually polyp bailout is due to unfavourable water conditions. I would take this as an indication that the tank is not ready for corals, and focus on stabilising your tank, and then try again next month.

Thanks for the replies.

I think the frogspawn is past saving, everything else seems fine so I will keep a close eye on them. I will also do an ICP to see if that shows anything

What are you using to test? alk, mag nitrate and phos are all on the low end. stability of these parameters is vital for euphyllia.

Alkalinity - Hanna
Ammonia - Salifert
Nitrite - Salifert
Nitrate - Hanna
Phosphate - Hanna
Calcium - Salifert
Magnesium - Salifert
Salinity - Hanna
PH - Hanna

These are my Alkalinity results from the last few weeks
August 15, 2022 - 7.883 dKH
August 8, 2022 - 7.659 dKH
July 31, 2022 - 7.771 dKH
July 22, 2022 - 7.547 dKH
July 16, 2022 - 7.715 dKH

Nitrate has been dropping
August 15, 2022 - 4.2 ppm
August 8, 2022 - 5.9 ppm
July 31, 2022 - 6.7 ppm
July 23, 2022 - 8.3 ppm
July 16, 2022 - 9.8 ppm

I only have a couple of Calcium
August 15, 2022 - 410 ppm
August 8, 2022 - 420 ppm

Again only a couple of Phosphate
August 15, 2022 - 0.04 ppm
August 8, 2022 - 0.02 ppm

The frogspawn has only been in for 2 weeks

I am not convinced that I have a bacterial bloom now, after a close look at the tanks it seems to be some sort of bugs. I have taken a glass of water out of the tank and looked at it and they are defiantly swimming around. The attached images are zoomed in as far as I can go, I would say they are about half the size of copepods

first of all let’s raise and stabilize the alkalinity. get it to 8.5-9 atleast. We need more phosphate, ideally 0.01 for every 1ppm nitrate. ideally 10 nitrate 0.10 phos. magnesium needs to be upped too. 1450-1500. these corals love mag. calcium needs to be around 450 as well.

Thanks again, I will start increasing the levels
