any ideas???

I have API test kits. Need to upgrade but:

Ammonia-lower than .25
Nitrite-0
Nitrate- very very close to 0
Ph-8.2
Temp-78-79

I'm waiting on my reef test kit from Red Sea but I did a water 15% water change a couple of days ago with Red Sea coral pro salt. The rest of my corals look excellent.

It could have been an Alkalinity swing. Do you test for that? Phosphate?
They like light and a bit of Nitrates. Try to get to 5ppm.

That looks like polyp bailout :( The head may fall off but won't necessarily die. If there is flesh remaining on the stalk, it will regenerate with time. Do you have any hermits or shrimp in your tank?

My opinion is to place it where low light and med flow and frag the dead head..is gone

agree with everyone so far.
Regarding alk...red sea coral pro makes up very high alkalinity. Somewhere around 11-12. If slowly acclimated (talking days, not hours) corals can handle higher alk.
How big is your tank? do you have a lot of sps?-->if not, I would switch back to red sea regular salt. IMO coral pro is for sps frag tanks or all sps tanks. Things that need a crap ton of calcium to grow (and alk to to keep proportional). Ill never use coral pro again-i switched back to red sea regular.

I am waiting on my test kit to arrive. According to the API phosphate kit it is below .25

I am planning on adding a bunch of sps. I have a 55 gallon display with about 20 gallons in my sump. My reef test kit should arrive today

good luck-I bleached a whole batch of new coral about 6 months ago because of high alk/low nutrients. They finally colored back up about 2 months ago.

DKh is at 13. Not as high as I thought. Calcium is at 460. I know it's a bit high but would that cause the frogspawn to shed like that?

My dKH has been as high as 12 with no issues. I think something was picking at it.
