Hello Group!
I have some pictures to share of my frogspawn for opinions as to whats going on? Is it spawning by budding in asexual reproduction? I suspect that it is dropping off a bud. I'll attempt to describe it as well. It seem like it is a pocket of flesh with a sliver, or fin, of skeletal calcium carbonate. I feel that if I were to cut it, it would start to grow a new colony. There looks to be a small group of tentacles and a mouth that when cut it would still be viable.
When the coral is withdrawn you can see it better like in this picture...
This was taken just a few minutes later when the tentacles started coming back out...
And here is a close up (shot with my iPhone)...
I have seen this before on a coral I owned a long time ago I cant remember if it was a Hammer or a Frogspawn. If I remember correctly, the calcium slid through the tissue and never became another colony.
I don't think that the coral is stressed, it has been growing pretty well. Everything is doing great in the tank and all parameters are in check.
Thanks for sharing any opinions, observations, and/or ideas.
