Hey!
So I began this adventure with a old 30g freshwater tank about 15 months ago. After much frustration after hearing the cost of this hobby, my goal was to spend little as possible (lol).
Filter, heater, sand, powerhead(weak) thermometer and hydrometer I was on my way. After a week or so I threw in some rock and crabs. That did ok. Then got some fluval LED's I was now gonna grow everything (lol)
I ran into these sorts of problems, grow some stuff, keep some stuff, kill some stuff in the next while.
I bought a new home! OH no I have to move my tank! Oh no.
So I killed a few things dispite all efforts.
My buddy gives me a 50g beautiful tank! He tells me it's 100g so I assumed it was.
Nice tank! I need a refugium. So after buying a 50g sump with out ever measuring it, doesn't fit under the tank. Awesome. I take it apart, try to make a sump out of a 20g..... I crack the tank. Crap. Il put it beside the tank and hide it (wife hates this lol)
The over flow sucked, syphon's are terrible, not enough flow. So I go out buy a tank 90g (keep in mind I think I have a 100g at home, yet it's only a 50
And finally end up here!
This hobby is never ending! I've learned about chemistry, plumbing, how straining my ADHD and reef addiction can be on a relation ship Haha! Buy a drilled tank, overflow boxes are far inferior, flow flow and more flow, Chinese LED's are worth the money! Have fun, read learn and reef on!
