I have a Mummy eye chalice that was bright green when I got it a couple weeks ago. I put it low in the tank under a overhang and medium flow. It is now turning a ugly dark purple color. It also looks to be putting out another eye/mouth already. Wondering what might cause something like this to happen? My guess would be to low of light but wanted to see what other people thought.

Thanks

Picture? Water perimeters? Many chalices will color morph. Under higher lights mummy eye generally turn orange. But even water perimeters can cause chalices to color morph. Do you know if it is a maned mummy eye? Does it still have orange eyes?

Eye is still orange, looks a little pinkish but mostly orange.

PH : 8.1
Alk : 7.8
Cal : 410
Mag: 1420
Nirate : 1-2
Po4 : undetectable

All I know is tht it was called mummy eye and was from SC. I have been target feeding it a mix of rods/oysterfeast.

Picture when I got it, dont have one atm as it looks now. Looks the same just turning purplish.

Thanks

Your perimeters are fine. Trates are a bit low for chalices, but if you are feeding it and its eating then trates are fine being low. If you do not feed than low trates would hamper its growth. Trying moving it in different areas of tank. As you mentioned it may need more light. But no more than medium light. If it is puffy looking and eyes are still big it is probably a lighting issue.

Salinity is almost 1.025

Thanks for the responses guys.
