I've purchased 2 zoas from the same Lfs and they were bright open and full of life. Now on its second day it's closed, skinny, and soft.
My questions is who has experienced this before and what have you learned, gain from this experience.
Thanks

I've had that before, for me, the answer was finding the right place in the tank. Mine wanted more flow, when I put them in a place with higher flow, they almost immediately opened back up. Zoas can close for a few days randomly every once in awhile, especially when they're new, so no reason to be worried yet.

I'm Worried because when I touch them they are squishy and bend like spaghetti, beginning stages of melting. I keep my zoas in a 8-10" frag tank with 4 bulb tex fixture. I'll try moving them in my DT but am afraid that if the stars smell them they'll eat them up.

Can you throw them under a light mesh? Or just a container that has a lot of flow so that they don't get eaten? I currently have a frag of zoas, don't know the name, that stayed closed for around a week.

If they're rotting pods, stars and even fish will eat them. Not much you can do once they start decaying but hope 1 survives and grows back. When i buy something I try to ask where they were in the tank and how long ago where they fragged. To me it sounds like a fresh frag. Next time make sure it's at least 1 week healed.

Didn't think about asking how long ago they were fragged. Would something like this happen if they just glued it down?
