Hey guys, so I used to have a 20 gallon nano reef and it was amazing. However, I recently bought a 180 gallon tank with a stand and hood for 500$. I couldnt resist the deal and it is RR.

With that being said I am absolutely clueless as to what to do next. With my nano I didnt even have a sump or plumbing and i just had a small light. Could anyone provide insight on how i should light and filter this tank. It is a 6x2x2. So its pretty shallow pumps and skimmer insight would be a plus too. Im just worried about flooding my apartment. I plan to have corals in it.

Make a list:

1... What do you want to keep
2... Can I afford the necessary equipment to keep this livestock
3... How will I manage the upkeep
4... Do I have someone to help me with all the lifting and such

Those are the big questions that will lead to other questions to help you purchase the right equipment.

Congrats on the 180g. What do you want to do with the system?

Looking forward to some pics and questions. :)

Best thing to do is research a ton of build threads here that are similar in size. Specifically find a few "models" and follow what they did, putting your own spin on it of course! Take your time building the tank up. I just finished building my 150 14 months after I received the tank! It was tedious but so worth the wait.

I want to make it a huge reef tank. The guy even gave me 60lbs of live rock with it.
The tank has a few scratches on the front but im hiring a glass company to come buff them out.
